General Tours


General Tours are student-led tours offered by appointment on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12:00 pm CST. These tours are offered to prospective students interested in the OSU DVM program.

 

  • Tour requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Tours are not available on evenings or weekends.
  • Due to limited space, all guests are required to make an appointment
  • All guests must be 16 years or older to attend. Younger guests are welcome to participate in our Open House event held in October.
  • An adult must always accompany any individual under the age of 18. 

We are unable to accommodate “walk-in” guests. This policy applies to prospective applicants, former/current faculty, graduates, staff, and general public.

What to Expect

 

Tours provide a comprehensive overview of the veterinary facilities and programs at OSU College of Veterianry Medicine lasting approximately 45 minutes. Participants can explore classrooms and laboratories in McElroy Hall, gaining insights into the academic environment. Additionally, the tour includes a visit to the Boren Veterinary Medical Hospital, allowing attendees to witness our facilities for animal care and treatment. The tours commence in the McElroy Hall Lobby, serving as the starting point for a valuable and informative experience for prospective students and visitors.


Due to safety concerns, participants are expected to wear closed-toed shoes. Photography and video is prohibited, as the animals in the hospital are client-owned.

Touching the animals is also strictly prohibited, as they are patients. Admission representatives are available to meet with prospective students by request either before or after the tour. Appointments can be scheduled by contacting admissions at 405-744-6961

 


Large Group Tours


Large Group Tours (4-H, Pre-vet clubs, FFA, etc.) are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at various times depending on the DVM class schedule. These tours are designed for large student and OSU DVM alum groups.

 

  • Tours must be requested at least 2 weeks in advance to allow for the scheduling of tour guides.
  • Tours are not available on evenings or weekends.
  • All groups must make an appointment. 
  • All guests must be 16 years or older to attend. Younger guests are welcome to participate in our Open House event held in October.
  • For every 10 minors visiting, at least one chaperone is required.
  • An adult must always accompany any individual under the age of 18.

The Large Group Tours of the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine last between 45 to an hour. During the tour, guests will receive a comprehensive overview of the veterinary facilities and programs offered at the college. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the classrooms and laboratories located in McElroy Hall, gaining insights into the academic environment. In addition, the tour includes a visit to the Boren Veterinary Medical Hospital, where attendees can witness the facilities for animal care and treatment. The tours start in the McElroy Hall Lobby, which is the starting point for a valuable and informative experience for prospective students and visitors. Extremely large groups may only view the hospital, depending on the DVM class schedule.

 

An additional option for our large student groups is available for an admissions presentation. If requested, this option will add approximately 30 minutes to your visit.

Exiting From I-35 to OK-51E:

Follow OK-51 E (turns into W 6th Ave) for 14.8 miles. Turn left on S Western Rd. Turn right on W Farm Rd. Pass the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital on your right. McElroy Hall will be the next building on the corner of W Farm Rd and McFarland Ave. 

 

Exiting From Cimarron Turnpike Spur to US-177 S/N Washington St:

Follow N Washington St for 3.1 miles. Turn left on W Lakeview Rd. Turn left onto N Western Rd. At the intersection of N Western Rd and W Hall of Fame drive straight towards W Farm Rd. Pass the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital on your right. McElroy Hall will be the next building on the corner of W Farm Rd and McFarland Ave. 

 

Driving West on OK-51 W:

OK-51 W will turn into E 6th Ave when arriving to Stillwater. Turn right on S Western Rd. Turn right on W Farm Rd. Pass the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital on your right. McElroy Hall will be the next building on the corner of W Farm Rd and McFarland Ave. 

 

Parking:

Visitor parallel parking can be found on the east side of McElroy Hall when turning right at the intersection of W Farm Rd and McFarland Ave. The visitor spots will be directly to your right once you have made the turn. OSU Campus Police parking is located on the opposite side for reference. Please look for the visitor parking sign. 

Visitor parking will have a "Reserved" sign for large buses.
